Latest search terms

I've been collecting all the search terms used by users , having cleared out all the noise
words , the most popular search terms are:jobs in London , .net-jobs, Kent jobs,it jobs in scotland, technical support, jobs in oxford, java jobs , oracle dba jobs, IT jobs.

This quite surprised me as I assuemed most users would think of something specific , such as
pick a competitive skill such as replication jobs.  These are direct search terms. What's interesting is that most of the traffic ITjobfeed.com gets from the search engines is a lot more niche.

To some extent this reflects that currect competitiveness of certain search terms. Whereas ITjobfeed.com has a lot of pages indexed which are very technical terms , and whcih send traffic to the site. A sample is http://www.itjobfeed.com/x10-jobs

IT job search figures

Since we've implemented a more diverse approach to our searches i.e capturing every job search users are making on ITjobfeed, there has been a marked increase in the range on searches users are making.

Possibly one reason , is that users are browsing through the top IT job searches section , which allows them to make searches , they wouldn't have made.

Check the statistics

Long tail at ITjobfeed.com

We've all heard about the long tail , nothing new. But we've decided to list the top searches made by users on the site on the front page. This list is much different to what the standard IT job search services offer, who tend to concentrate on the most popular searches , such as Java jobs

This is as well as the top IT job searches section, which lists every search made by users on the site. On job searches starting with C the range is amazing. I set up the recording of the job searches and hadn't looked at it for a few months.
